Reflection, Understanding, ACTION
The International Coaching Federation says: Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
Clients can seek coaching directly or can be "sponsored" by an organization. No matter how you come to be coached, the process and gains are the same. The focus is the development and implementation of strategies to reach your goals. Coaching can address specific projects, job performance/satisfaction, or general conditions in the client’s life, business or industry.
Are you ready to be coached?
The Harvard Business Review has a great article detailing what is needed for sustainable results from coaching.
Tolerance for discomfort
Openness to experimentation
Ability to look beyond the rational
Willingness to take responsibility
Capacity for forgiveness
Ability to ask for support
Coaching takes a tremendous amount of commitment and work from the client, and the benefits can be transformational.
